Home.

Home. If it's true as 'they' say; whoever 'they' may be, that "beauty is in the eye of the beholder"...and i've found 'they' to be true on this account, then surely many things find their value or are found in the eye of the beholder. Perhaps one of those things is home. I'm on a journey to finding home truly is--as my mom has cross-stitched above a doorway or hearth--..."home is where the heart is."
It's not always where you lay your head, the two lines under your name on an envelope, or the area code in your phone number, but sometimes and just sometimes it is all of these at the same time when they are not entirely the same. In less than 2 weeks, my home will change for whatever that word means to you. A little more than a week ago, someone challenged me to make the Word of God my home: the place I dwell in, I rest in, I eat in, I thrive in. That thought as simple as it is has challenged me and comforted me in amazing ways as I leave the familiar. So, my prayer is that I'll never really lose the familiarity of home because my heart abides in Christ and in His Word, and that will be my home. And though distance may separate me from the people that I have grown to love and adore on this side of the water, ..."I am convinced that neither death, nor life...nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth" will ever be able to separate me from the love found in Christ, the love found in my one true home.
Just some thoughts. I am not one much for using a blog to write sililoqies--is that what this is--or to write in like a journal, but if you're reading this then you know me, you might even love me and you'll see a bit of whats happening to me on the inside as well as on the outside as I make the move. And who knows tomorrow there will probably be more silly stories and pictures, but for today...here are my thoughts. And you didn't even have to have a penny, eh?

American Woman

Here's some pics from my trip to Washington, D.C. last Saturday. I rode the metro for the first time. How am I going to make it in my new home and not at every moment appear a tourist and outsider...I'm not entirely sure because it took all my self control to not shamelessly take a picture of my fascination with this "underground train." I saw where George and Laura live! Clearly, i would have stopped in for tea, but I forgot to ring them ahead of time and let them know I was coming to town. Oh well, next time, eh? I loved the captital. D.C. is absolutely beautiful. This is us in front of the Washington Monument! The only thing missing is my fanny pack and camera strap around my neck. Tourist or not, it was a great trip. I got to have some cuisine from my future home! Hospitality was alive and well in his little International restaurant assuring us that we will be warmly greeted come January. The food was delish...as in delicious! Maybe, I'm going to enjoy eating more than P.B.J.'s after all!

I Am Thankful...

So, this was my first Thanksgiving without family, but good friends turned out to be family that day! Don't I look festive!

Here we are at Thanksgiving Dinner! Its David, me, Jayme, & Jared. How lucky am I? I didn't get to spend the day with my family, but I did get to enjoy my best friend's family and future in-laws! Her mother in-law is the hostess with the most! Thanks Ms. LuAnn!
